The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of activity for the PG squared swim team. The local favorites have had 6 meets in a two week period, and have responded extremely well. The highlights include a Woodland Conference Relay Championship with no fewer than three new Conference relay records, and at the Elkhorn Invitational another win with no fewer than 5 new pool records left in their wake.
Head coach Dale Schrank was ecstatic about the results of the Conference relays. “We won or finished second in every relay that we swam, and had a number of lifetime best efforts in the process. The only relay that we did not medal in was a relay where we were disqualified. Even with the disqualified relay, we still won the meet by 46 points” commented Schrank .
Emilio Perez, Leo Gandaria, and Jack Lustig have formed the nucleus of these record setting swims and currently have the three fastest times in the State in the 200 yard freestyle event. “If we can keep ourselves focused on this level of intensity, and can keep ourselves healthy, there is no telling where this team can finish at the end of the season.” added coach Schrank.
The “PantherHawks” will see their next action at Homestead High School on Friday, December 27th. Swimming starts at 10:00 a.m.
