The Greenfield/Pius girls swim team, or the “SugarHawks” , as they like to call themselves, continue to remain remain undefeated in the Woodland Conference as they swept all 9 individual swimming events, and captured all 3 relays as well. The meet was on Wednesday evening at their home pool..
Head coach Dale Schrank was impressed by the effort level, considering how tired most swimmers were from the previous week of practice. ” To continue to try to swim fast, when your body just does not want to cooperate is the real test. We past that test with flying colors last on Wednesday.” commented Schrank.
Captains Lily Lustig and Madison Misko led the attack each being double winners in their respective events. Teammates Gabby Goodbear, Sophia Davis, Elizabeth Misorski, and Gabriele LePine .rounded out the event winners for the night. Bella Marshall was the “Swimmer of the Meet” because of her performance in the 100 yard freestyle with a lifetime best time in that event.
The local favorites will face their toughest competition of the dual meet season next Wednesday as they face the Falcons of Whitnall. ” The Falcons are a well coached team, and they have a very balanced attack. That will be a great meet to end the dual meet season as we approach the big meets at the end of the year” said Schrank. Swim and dive action starts at 5:00 p.m.at home.
