After 2 weeks with no competition, the Greenfield/Pius girls’ swim team had a meet against a very competitive Pewaukee team on Wednesday. The local favorites came up 11 points short 89 -78. Head coach Dale Schrank was very pleased with his teams’ performance. “Because we did not have any meets in the last 2 weeks, we were able to put in some very aggressive sets, and I was not sure how the girls would respond. I was not that surprised that a number of the girls were still broken down from the workouts.” said Schrank. “ I do think, however, that those workouts will pay off and we will surprise a number of the teams in our Conference at the end of the season.”
Gabrielle LePine and Kira Goodbear were both double event winners on Wednesday, and Anna Miler rounded out the individual event winners with a first place finish in the 100 freestyle with a lifetime best time of 58.29. Other strong performances were recorded by Maylen Wiencek in both the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard breaststroke events, Anna Temke in the 500 yard freestyle, and Samanth Bartelt in the 100 yard freestyle resulting in a 1-2 finish.
The next action for the Greenfield/Pius squad will be on Wednesday, October 14 at New Berlin West. Competition starts at 5:00 p.m.
