The Greenfield Boys Volleyball team delivered an impressive showing at the Woodland Conference Tournament, finishing 1st in the Bronze Bracket and 9th overall after a day full of competitive matches and strong individual performances.
The Hawks opened the tournament with hard-fought battles against Pewaukee and West Allis Central, each going to three sets. Against Pewaukee, Romario Ortega set the tone with 2 aces and 19 assists, while Ryan Walhovd led the attack with 11 kills on a .393 hitting percentage. The team notched five total blocks, but ultimately fell 1–2 (18–25, 26–24, 10–15).
In their next matchup versus West Allis Central, Greenfield continued to fight with Emett Bruhn tallying 5 kills on an impressive .950 hitting percentage, and Ortega contributing 3 blocks and 14 assists. Despite the team's resilience, they narrowly dropped the match 1–2 (24–26, 25–23, 4–15).
The Hawks bounced back in dominant fashion, sweeping both Augustine Prep and Greendale to close out the day. Against Augustine Prep, Trevor Schueller led with 7 kills on .412 hitting, Ortega dished out 17 assists, and Steven Rehak recorded 9 digs as Greenfield won 2–0 (25–21, 25–16).
They carried that momentum into the Greendale match, where Walhovd posted 7 kills on .389 hitting, and the team combined for 5 aces and 7 blocks to secure another 2–0 victory (25–14, 25–18).
