On Friday, December 20, the Greenfield girls wrestling team traveled to Elkhorn to compete in a highly competitive girls tournament, and the Hawks delivered an impressive showing across multiple weight classes. Greenfield athletes earned multiple podium finishes, including two tournament championships, highlighting the continued growth and strength of the program..
Leading the way were Nuriah Kaabachi and Jazlene Solis, who both captured first-place finishes in their respective brackets. Kaabachi dominated the 167.6–179.8 lb weight class, winning all three of her matches by fall to secure the title and score 28 team points. Solis matched that performance in the 134.2–137.4 lb division, earning three victories by fall on her way to a championship performance of her own.
Angela Xiong also had an outstanding day, finishing first place in the 97.8–106.8 lb bracket. Xiong went undefeated, recording three wins by fall, including a decisive championship-round victory, and contributed another 28 points for Greenfield.
In the upper divisions, Sophia Padilla Perez earned a third-place finish in the 185.8–213.1 lb bracket, battling through tough competition to secure a podium spot and nine team points. Mya Chawla rounded out Greenfield's lineup with a fourth-place finish in the 97.8–106.8 lb bracket, gaining valuable varsity tournament experience as a freshman.
With multiple champions and podium finishes, the Elkhorn tournament showcased the depth, determination, and continued progress of Greenfield girls wrestling. The Hawks continue to build momentum as they head into the heart of the season.
