The Greenfield/Greendale/Wisconsin Lutheran (G/G/WL) boys swim team delivered a strong, competitive performance in their dual meet against the Shorewood Greyhounds on December 3. The team showcased depth across all events, highlighted by standout swims, relay strength, and impressive time drops throughout the night.
Relay Success Sets the Tone
The meet opened with momentum in the 200 Medley Relay, where the JV squad of Miles Weiland, Nehemiah Li, Corey Busher, and Vrishank Kothapalli captured first place with a time of 2:53.78.
In the Varsity Medley Relay, the A-team of Gabe Hernandez, Ben Hernandez, Ethan Anderson, and Oscar Mendieta posted a strong 1:56.15, securing second place and setting the tone for several standout varsity swims to follow.
The highlight relay of the night came in the Varsity 200 Freestyle Relay, where the Greenfield/Greendale/WL team of Ben Hernandez, Oscar Mendieta, Nehemiah Li, and Ben West surged to a first-place finish in 1:48.39, edging out Shorewood in an exciting race.
Big Individual Performances
Ben & Gabe Hernandez Lead the Charge
The Hernandez brothers had a dominant night in the pool:

Ben Hernandez earned a commanding victory in the 200 Individual Medley, touching in 2:12.80, and later took second in the 100 Breaststroke with a competitive 1:10.97.

Gabe Hernandez impressed with a second-place finish in the 100 Butterfly (55.56) and a win in the 100 Backstroke, stopping the clock at 55.48, one of the top times of the meet.
Distance Depth on Display
The 500 Freestyle proved to be a strength area for the co-op:

Ben West took second, dropping early consistent splits for a 5:51.64.

Ethan Anderson finished close behind in 5:51.93, adding valuable points.

Josh Nguyen, continuing to develop his endurance, added additional depth with a 7:57.21 finish.
JV Highlights
The junior varsity crew had a clean sweep in both sprint and mid-distance events:

Vrishank Kothapalli dominated JV sprints, winning the 50 Free (35.29) and 100 Free (1:31.50).

The varsity 400 Freestyle Relay closed out the meet with a solid second-place finish. The team of Gabe Hernandez, Ethan Anderson, Josh Nguyen, and Ben West clocked 4:08.60, highlighted by West's strong anchor split.
