The Greenfield girls wrestling team showcased their talent and determination at the WIAA Girls Sectional meet in Brown Deer. The event featured fierce competition, with Greenfield wrestlers battling for placement and valuable team points.
107 lbs - Angela Xiong
Angela Xiong (28-17) competed in the 107-pound division but was unable to advance past the championship bracket. She faced a tough opponent in Tesa Marrero (New Berlin West/Eisenhower), who won by fall at 1:32. Xiong's efforts, however, were commendable as she demonstrated grit and skill on the mat.
114 lbs - Gianna Wagner (3rd Place, 10.0 Team Points)
Gianna Wagner (16-15) had an impressive showing in the 114-pound weight class, earning a 3rd place finish and contributing 10.0 team points. She began the tournament with a bye before facing Izzie Evitch (Menomonee Falls), who secured a fall at 3:55. Wagner rebounded in the 3rd place match with a fall victory over Zhana Wright (Nicolet) at 3:15. In the 2nd place match, she put up a strong fight but fell short to Sharmia Evans (Milwaukee Bay View/Lifelong Learning/South) in a 12-5 decision.
126 lbs - Eva Rivera (4th Place, 8.0 Team Points)
Eva Rivera (19-18) battled hard in the 126-pound division, securing a 4th place finish and adding 8.0 points to the team's total. She started off strong with a pin over Makyah Young (Brown Deer/Messmer/Shorewood) in just 1:21. However, she was met with a tough challenge from Kya Krueger (West Allis Nathan Hale), who won by technical fall at 2:46 (16-0). In the 3rd place match, Rivera fell to Raquel Gerovac (New Berlin West/Eisenhower) by fall at 3:26.
132 lbs - Jazlene Solis
Jazlene Solis (24-23) took on a formidable opponent in Dakota Allen (Wisconsin Lutheran) in the 132-pound division. Despite a valiant effort, Solis was defeated by fall at 2:34. Her dedication and perseverance remain key assets to the Greenfield wrestling team.
