The Greenfield Hustlin' Hawks closed out their 2025 season on Friday, October 24th, with a hard-fought effort against the top-seeded Notre Dame Tritons, falling 77–32 in the opening round of the WIAA Division 3 playoffs.
Despite the final score, the Hawks showed grit and execution on both sides of the ball, putting together several strong offensive drives against one of the state's top-ranked teams. Senior quarterback Luke O'Brien led the way through the air, completing 17 of 31 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Fellow senior Brayden Ziarek was outstanding in his final game, hauling in nine receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns, while also punting four times for 143 yards (35.8 average). Senior Matthew Goggins added four catches for 35 yards and a touchdown, and Bennett Bradley contributed three receptions for 48 yards along with a rushing touchdown.
On special teams, Bradley also impressed with six kick returns for 207 yards, including a long of 90 yards and one touchdown. Nate Teicher chipped in with a 32-yard return, and freshman Peyton Briley added 15 return yards.
Defensively, Dylan Alba led the team with eight tackles, while Zach Safka and Gavin St. John each recorded seven. Senior Zach Bender tallied two solo tackles and an interception, and sophomore Jayden-Elvis Alvarado forced a fumble. St. John also added a two-point conversion on offense, showcasing his versatility on both sides of the ball.
Though the loss ends the Hawks' playoff run, the game reflected the growth, leadership, and perseverance of Greenfield's senior class, which guided the team to a 6–5 overall record and a memorable postseason appearance.
