On a blustery Thursday evening, the Greenfield girls soccer team faced off against Waukesha South in a tightly contested match that ended in a 1-1 draw. The Hawks had to overcome difficult conditions as the wind created two very different halves of play.
Struggling in the first half while playing into the wind, Greenfield managed to hold their ground with a couple of shots on target and key saves by senior goalkeeper Diane Daniels (4 total). The momentum shifted in the second half as the Hawks took control of the game with 45% possession and six shots on goal overall.
The breakthrough came with a stunning strike from junior Marija Kosanovic, who launched a rocket from outside the 18-yard box to tie the game. Her performance earned her Player of the Match honors.
Greenfield now looks ahead to its next challenge: a 4:30 PM kickoff on Monday, April 21st, at home against University School of Milwaukee.
