Hawks Soar to Victory and Celebrate Hall of Fame Inductees

The Greenfield Hustlin' Hawks lit up the scoreboard Friday night with a thrilling 50–43 win over Racine Park, in a game filled with grit, explosive plays, and key defensive stops.

Offensive Powerhouse

The Hawks leaned on a balanced attack to notch the victory.

  • Jose Garcia (#25, JR) powered the ground game with 195 yards on 24 carries and 2 touchdowns.

  • Luke O'Brien (#14, JR) controlled the game at quarterback, rushing for 119 yards and 3 touchdowns while completing 10 of 16 passes for 83 yards.

  • Bennett Bradley (#9, SR) added to the ground game with 39 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, while also catching 2 passes.

  • Through the air, Gavin St. John (#7, SR) led the receivers with 3 catches for 39 yards, while Brayden Ziarek (#8, SR), Bradley, Matthew Goggins (#11, SR), Jose Garcia, and Peyton Briley (#89, FR) each contributed receptions.

Defensive Highlights

The defense came through with momentum-shifting plays:

  • Zach Safka (#13, JR) dominated the line with 6 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 tackles for loss.

  • Cole Konrad (#12, JR) anchored the defense with a team-high 7 tackles.

  • Brody Jens (#17, JR) and Brayden Ziarek (#8, SR) both picked off passes to stall Racine Park's drives.

Special Teams Impact

  • Brayden Ziarek was everywhere, also handling kickoff, punting, and pulling in an interception. He booted 6 kickoffs for 182 yards and added a booming 42-yard punt.

A Night of Celebration: 2025 Hall of Fame Inductees

Halftime was extra special as Greenfield High School proudly welcomed the 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame class. The ceremony honored teams and individuals who left lasting marks on Hustlin' Hawks history:

  • 1983 Baseball Team – WIAA State Champions, one of the most decorated squads in school history.

  • Phillip Mijokovic – 1968 State Golf Champion who defeated future U.S. Open winner Andy North.

  • Julie Hebert Leach – 9-time state qualifier, 2-time triple jump champion, still among Wisconsin's all-time greats.

  • Coach Jack Miller – Legendary softball coach with 500+ wins and multiple state appearances.

  • Michelle Gardner (Piekarski) – 3-time state champion hurdler, UW-Milwaukee standout.

  • Jackie Vida (Nowak) – Three-sport star and Greenfield's first female Division I athletic scholarship recipient.

  • Stacey Butts (Van Domelen) – 3-time All-Conference softball standout, 2009 state qualifier, UW-Green Bay athlete.

  • Shannon Butts (Riddle) – All-time GHS softball hits leader, conference MVP, UW-Green Bay standout.

  • Arthur Sanchez – 1968 state champion swimmer in the 100-yard breaststroke, state record holder.

  • Coach Ervin Straub (In Honor) – First GHS swim coach, led 1963 team to a state title and coached multiple state champions.

Looking Ahead

With the victory, the Hawks improve to 1–1 on the season and gain momentum heading into next week's matchup. Combined with honoring decades of Hawk greatness, Friday night was truly one for the record books.
