The Greenfield/Pius XI girls swim team delivered a strong performance Wednesday night against Shorewood and West Allis, showing impressive depth, effort, and teamwork across all events.
Meet Highlights
The evening started with a thrilling Varsity 200 Medley Relay, where the team of Jennifer Werth (FR), Emersyn LePine (FR), Piper Seehawer (JR), and Grace Pagel (SR) matched Shorewood with a dead heat finish of 1:58.58, setting the tone for a competitive night in the pool.
LePine continued her dominance in the 200 Individual Medley, claiming first place in 2:19.15, a strong early-season mark that showcased her versatility across all four strokes.
Freshman Jennifer Werth also impressed in the 200 Freestyle, earning a runner-up finish at 2:18.40, and later showing endurance with a 6:01.50 in the demanding 500 Freestyle—a top-three performance. Fellow freshman Tegan Tervoort contributed valuable team points with strong swims in both the 200 and 500 events.
Junior Piper Seehawer continued her standout season, taking second in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:04.53 and returning to win the 100 Breaststroke in 1:17.77. Senior Ava Keiller added a third-place finish in the same race at 1:23.63, highlighting Greenfield/Pius's depth in breaststroke.
Senior leader Grace Pagel showed her veteran presence with key points in the 50 Freestyle (29.13) and 100 Butterfly (1:18.27), while Ava Wuerzberger (SR) represented the team well in diving, finishing second overall with a score of 153.55.
Team Success in Relays
The team's chemistry shined in the 200 Freestyle Relay, where LePine, Pagel, Werth, and Seehawer combined for a first-place finish in 1:48.83, narrowly ahead of Shorewood's top relay. The win marked one of the best relay performances of the season for the Hawks.
Though disqualified in the 400 Freestyle Relay, the team demonstrated determination and competitive energy from start to finish, emphasizing continuous growth and improvement heading into the final stretch of the season.
