On Thursday, April 10, the Greenfield Varsity Hustlin' Hawks softball team went head-to-head with Whitnall in a tight, back-and-forth game that ended in a narrow 3-2 loss.
The Hawks showed grit and determination throughout the contest, especially in the fourth inning when they rallied for two runs to briefly take the lead. Offensively, Greenfield collected seven hits, led by standout performances from S. Mysliwy, E. Brielmaier, and C. Rodriguez, who each tallied two hits. Mysliwy also delivered the team's only RBI and smashed a double to help fuel the offense.
Rodriguez added a stolen base, while Brielmaier and Kleszczynski contributed key at-bats to keep the pressure on Whitnall's defense.
On the mound, J. Lasky pitched a strong complete game, going 7.1 innings and striking out three. Lasky threw 102 pitches and limited Whitnall to just seven hits, but the Falcons managed to sneak in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Despite the tough loss, the Hustlin' Hawks showed strong defensive discipline and a balanced offensive attack. Greenfield looks to bounce back in their next outing and continue building on the positives from this competitive effort.
