The Greenfield Varsity Baseball team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday, shutting out Milwaukee Reagan 3-0 behind stellar pitching and timely offense.
The Hawks struck first in the second inning, adding two insurance runs in the sixth to secure the win. Greenfield tallied five hits on the day, with senior Nate Wendricks leading the charge, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Elijah Hunt chipped in with a clutch two-RBI double, while Brady Zimmer and Jayden Valdez each added a hit to round out the offense.
On the mound, Wendricks was outstanding, tossing five scoreless innings, scattering five hits while striking out four to earn the win. Ethan Hanke came in to close the door, pitching two strong innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out three to earn the save. Combined, the pitching staff allowed only six hits and issued three walks while striking out seven.
Greenfield's defense was steady, overcoming one error to back their pitchers in key moments and keep the Huskies off the board.
With the win, the Hawks improve their standing and continue to build momentum as they head deeper into conference play.
