The Greenfield Hawks closed out a busy weekend on the baseball diamond by earning an impressive 10-4 victory over Brookfield Central on Friday before falling to a talented Waukesha West squad on Saturday.
Hawks Roll Past Brookfield Central
Greenfield's offense came alive Friday as the Hawks pounded out 11 hits and scored 10 runs in a complete team effort against Brookfield Central.
The Hawks struck early with runs in each of the first four innings and added four more in the seventh to secure the victory. Chase Wallich led the offensive attack with a standout performance, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base.
Mason Alms added two hits and two RBI, while Brody Jens contributed a hit, RBI, run scored, and a walk. Ethan Miszewski reached base three times with a hit and two walks, and JJ Francour chipped in a hit, RBI, run scored, and two walks.
Cameron Gonzalez, Nolan Kranich, and Enrique Lopez each recorded hits as Greenfield's lineup produced from top to bottom.
On the mound, Ethan Hanke earned the win with five strong innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six. Mason Grafwallner shut the door over the final two innings, striking out four and surrendering no earned runs to preserve the victory.
Hawks Battle Waukesha West
Greenfield returned to the field Saturday to take on Waukesha West. While the final score favored the Wolverines, the Hawks continued to compete and found bright spots throughout the game.
The Hawks scored three runs and collected hits from Brody Jens, Jaden Sanchez, and Chase Eade. Eade delivered the biggest hit of the day, driving in two runs with a double. Miszewski added an RBI, while Jens used his speed to swipe two bases and score a run.
Defensively and on the mound, Greenfield showed resilience after an early deficit. Cameron Gonzalez started the game, while Tyler Carey provided valuable relief innings and helped settle the game. Miszewski also appeared on the mound late in the contest.
Despite the loss, the weekend featured several strong individual performances and another offensive showcase from the Hawks as they continue preparing for postseason play.
Greenfield now turns its attention to the final stretch of the regular season before opening WIAA Tournament action at home against Milwaukee Pulaski on Tuesday, June 2.
