Greenfield Baseball earned a 4-2 victory over Waukesha South on Wednesday night behind strong pitching and timely offense.
After falling behind early, the Hawks battled back with two runs in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to secure the win.
Trenton Schellinger led the way on the mound, earning the victory after tossing six innings with eight strikeouts while allowing just one earned run on four hits. Ethan Miszewski came on in relief and struck out all three batters he faced in the seventh inning to pick up the save.
Offensively, Jaden Sanchez and Mason Grafwallner each recorded doubles for Greenfield, while Sanchez finished with two hits on the night. Brody Jens, Cameron Gonzalez and Schellinger each drove in runs during the Hawks' late rally.
Greenfield finished with five hits and played solid defense throughout the game to complete the comeback victory.
The Hawks now prepare for Friday's matchup against Brookfield Central before wrapping up the regular season next week and opening WIAA playoff action at home against Milwaukee Pulaski on Tuesday, June 2.
