The Greenfield Hawks varsity baseball team secured a thrilling 7-5 victory over West Allis Central on Friday, April 25, using a big seventh-inning rally to seal the win.
The Hawks jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the second inning and adding another run in the sixth to go up 3-0. However, West Allis Central mounted a comeback with four runs in the top of the seventh to briefly take the lead. Greenfield responded with poise, erupting for four runs of their own in the bottom half to walk it off in dramatic fashion.
Ethan Miszewski set the tone on the mound, tossing five dominant innings of one-hit baseball, striking out seven and walking four without allowing a run. Elijah Hunt picked up the win in relief, striking out three over 1.2 innings.
At the plate, the Hawks collected nine hits. Enrique Lopez led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 day, while Eli Francour contributed two hits and scored once. Bradyn Seidler delivered two RBIs, and five different Hawks crossed the plate in the late surge.
The Hawks were aggressive on the base paths, racking up 13 stolen bases, including three each from Francour and Hunt.
With this win, Greenfield continues to build momentum as they navigate conference play.
