The Greenfield Varsity Hustlin' Hawks Softball team delivered a commanding performance Tuesday afternoon, shutting out Cudahy 18-0 in just three innings.
The Hawks' offense came out firing, scoring six runs in each of the first three innings to put the game out of reach early. Greenfield tallied 14 hits as a team and drew 14 walks, showcasing both patience and power at the plate. Leading the offensive explosion was Maya Hornung, who not only went 2-for-3 with four total bases and three RBIs, but also dominated on the mound, striking out five batters over three shutout innings without allowing a walk.
Offensively, Calla Gbur had a stellar outing, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored, two RBIs, and two walks. Erin Brielmaier was a perfect 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and Sarah Mysliwy added two hits and three runs scored of his own. Naomi Kleczynski reached base all four times, scoring twice and stealing a base to add to the team's all-around dominance.
The defense and pitching were equally sharp, holding Cudahy to just one hit and no runs, while committing zero errors in the field.
With this emphatic victory, the Hawks continue to build momentum and confidence as the season progresses.
Next up: Greenfield looks to carry this energy into their next matchup as they continue Woodland Conference play.
