Greenfield Baseball Battles in Tight Matchup Against Catholic Memorial

The Greenfield Hustlin' Hawks put up a determined fight on Friday, May 9, but came up short in a 7-4 loss against a strong Catholic Memorial squad. Despite the final score, the Hawks showed resilience and timely hitting throughout the contest.

Offensively, Greenfield tallied 8 hits on the night, led by standout performances from Jamie Murray, who went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base, and Naomi Kleczynski, who reached base four times, going 2-for-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored. Maya Hornung also delivered at the plate with 2 hits and an RBI.

The Hawks chipped away at the Catholic Memorial lead throughout the game, scoring in the 3rd, 6th, and 7th innings. However, a three-run 8th inning by the Crusaders sealed the outcome despite Greenfield's efforts.

On the mound, Jasmine Lasky pitched 7.1 innings, scattering 9 hits while striking out 1 and walking 4. He threw 100 pitches, 55 for strikes. Maya Hornung closed out the final two outs, striking out one in relief.

Defensively, the Hawks were charged with two errors but showed hustle in the field. Despite a couple of caught stealings and hit-by-pitches, Greenfield remained aggressive on the bases and supportive in the dugout—showing strong team spirit and energy.

The Hustlin' Hawks will look to bounce back and build on this gritty performance in their next outing. Stay tuned and keep supporting the green and gold!
