The Greenfield Varsity Baseball team delivered an explosive performance on Tuesday, May 13, overpowering Cudahy 13-3 in just six innings.
The Hawks came out swinging, putting up multiple runs in the first four innings to jump to an 11-2 lead before sealing the deal with a four-run sixth inning. Offensively, Greenfield racked up 12 hits and drew five walks in a well-rounded display of plate discipline and aggressive base running.
Offensive Standouts:
-
Mason Grafwallner led the way with a 3-for-4 outing, including two doubles and 3 runs scored.
-
Julian Francour was clutch at the plate, going 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs.
-
Brady Zimmer added a hit and brought in 3 RBIs as well.
-
Elijah Hunt, Jayden Valdez, Rex Giegerich, and Ethan Miszewski all contributed hits to the effort.
Greenfield was also aggressive on the bases, racking up six stolen bases on the night from five different players.
On the Mound:
Pitcher Nate Wendricks went the distance, earning the win with 6.0 innings pitched. He gave up 8 hits and 3 runs (only one earned), while striking out 4 and walking 2 on 101 pitches. His steady presence on the mound helped contain Cudahy's offense and gave his team the opportunity to pull ahead early.
Team Effort and Momentum:
Every part of the lineup contributed, with eight different players recording a hit and multiple players scoring multiple runs. The Hawks capitalized on Cudahy's four errors and stayed composed defensively despite committing three errors themselves.
With this dominant win, Greenfield continues to build momentum heading into the back half of the season.
The Hawks look to carry this energy into their next matchup and keep the bats hot.
