Hawks Rally in the Fourth to Edge South Milwaukee in a Thriller

The Greenfield Varsity Baseball team pulled off a gutsy comeback win on Wednesday night, taking down South Milwaukee 7-6 in a back-and-forth battle that showcased resilience, clutch hitting, and shutdown relief pitching.

After falling behind 4-1 early, the Hawks exploded for six runs in the fourth inning to flip the game in their favor. Key contributions came from Elijah Hunt, who went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs, and Mason Alms, who also drove in two runs on the day. Enrique Lopez chipped in with an RBI single, while Nate Wendricks added a run-scoring walk.

Wendricks started on the mound and battled through five innings, striking out seven while allowing six runs (five earned). Elijah Hunt came in clutch to close out the game, delivering two hitless innings of relief and striking out three to earn the save.

On the base paths, Greenfield was aggressive and effective, with stolen bases by Alms and Wendricks helping keep the pressure on South Milwaukee. Defensively, the Hawks held on despite a pair of errors, and Hunt's presence on the mound sealed the deal in the late innings.

The win improves Greenfield's momentum as they continue their conference schedule. With timely hitting and grit on display, the Hawks proved they can fight through adversity and come out on top.

Next up: Greenfield looks to carry this energy into their next matchup as they continue their push in the Woodland Conference standings.
