The Greenfield Varsity Baseball team went head-to-head with Milwaukee Reagan in an offensive showdown on Monday, ultimately falling 19-8 despite a determined effort at the plate.
The Hawks came out swinging, scoring in each of the first three innings and keeping pace with Reagan early on. Center fielder Elijah Hunt sparked the offense with a 2-hit, 3-run performance and added two stolen bases. Shortstop Rex Giegerich also had a standout day, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a double, two walks, and a stolen base.
Catcher Julian Francour continued his strong season at the plate, collecting two hits and scoring once, while second baseman Ethan Miszewski reached base twice, scored twice, and swiped a bag. Mason Alms and Mason Grafwallner each chipped in with an RBI apiece, helping the Hawks tally nine hits as a team.
Despite the offensive output, defensive miscues and walks proved costly. Greenfield committed five errors and issued seven walks, contributing to Reagan's 19-run outburst. On the mound, Ethan Hanke struck out three over 3.2 innings of relief, while Alex Peacock closed out the game with two innings of work.
Greenfield looks to bounce back in their next contest as they continue to refine their play and build momentum heading into the second half of the season.
