Greenfield Baseball Outlasts Shorewood in 8-6 Victory

The Greenfield Varsity Baseball team continued their strong run with an 8-6 win over Shorewood on Wednesday, May 7, in a back-and-forth battle that showcased both resilience and timely hitting.

The Hawks were led offensively by senior standout Nate Wendricks, who put on a clinic at the plate and on the mound. Wendricks went 2-for-3 with 4 runs scored, a double, and 2 stolen bases. He also picked up the win on the mound, throwing five innings and striking out three.

Center fielder Eli Francour delivered the biggest hits of the day, going 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and a sacrifice fly. Catcher Brady Zimmer added two RBIs of his own, while Jayden Valdez and Ethan Miszewski each chipped in with key at-bats and runs driven in.

The Hawks put up runs in five of their six offensive innings, including a clutch two-run 5th inning that helped extend their lead. Despite some late pressure from Shorewood, Greenfield's bullpen held strong. Ethan Miszewski closed the door in the final two innings, allowing just two runs while striking out two to earn the save.

Greenfield now moves forward with momentum and confidence, continuing to fight for conference supremacy.

Next up: The Hawks return to action this week as they look to keep the bats hot and the wins rolling.
