The Greenfield Hawks showed resilience and offensive firepower Tuesday evening, battling throughout a high-scoring matchup against Shorewood before falling 12-8.
Greenfield came out swinging early, plating two runs in the opening inning before adding three more in the third to keep pressure on the Greyhounds. The Hawks totaled seven hits and drew four walks in a balanced offensive effort.
Enrique Lopez led the Hawks offensively with a huge day at the plate, recording a double, two walks, three RBIs, and two stolen bases. Chase Wallich added an RBI and a stolen base, while Ethan Miszewski and JJ Francour each drove in runs. Brody Jens, Chase Eade, Mason Alms, and Miszewski also contributed hits for Greenfield.
The Hawks continued to apply pressure on the bases, with Lopez swiping two bags and Wallich adding another. Defensively, Greenfield battled through several tough innings and turned to Tyler Schellinger in relief, who struck out four batters over three innings of work.
Despite the final score, the Hawks continued to compete until the final out, showcasing determination and contributions throughout the lineup.
